What We Do

2017-2018 Professional Development Calendar:
  • Thursday, October 26, 2017: "Getting Great Behavior in the Classroom" - 3 hr. COK training workshop, 9:30 AM-12:30 PM, held at 1401 Rockville Pike, Lobby Level, Training Rooms 1002-1006.

  • Thursday, November 16, 2017:Directors' Consortium, MSDE Credentialing Branch, 9:30 AM-12:30 PM, held at 1401 Rockville Pike, Lobby Level, Training Rooms 1002-1006.  2 PAUs awarded.

  • Friday, December 15, 2017: Directors All-Day Training - "Leading and Mentoring a Winning Team" - 5 hr. COK training workshop, 8:30 AM-3:30 PM.  Breakfast and lunch included. Separate registration.  Location: Hilton Hotel Gaithersburg.

  • Thursday, January 25, 2018 - Directors' Consortium, "What's the Ask?," getting ready for Annapolis Night, 9:30 AM-12:30 PM, held at 1401 Rockville Pike, Lobby Level, Training Rooms 1002-1006.  2 PAUs awarded.


The Organization of Child Care Directors (OCCD) is the only organization that understands what a child care administrator's job is really like! Why? We have all experienced the day-to- day trials and tribulations of working in the child care profession. OCCD is dedicated to providing training and support to those who administer children’s programs. Our general membership meetings, special events and training workshops are designed to meet the needs and interests of those in our unique profession.

Our diverse membership of over 155 individuals includes Directors, Assistant Directors, and Administrators from Nursery Schools, Head Start Programs, Child Care Centers, School-Age Programs, and Businesses. Members represent a variety of agencies: non-profit, for profit, church/synagogue based, franchise, government, public and private. This diversity adds to the wealth of knowledge and expertise shared among our members and is a benefit to us all.
